The Inspiration Behind the Mission
Every mission has a beginning, and for Johnny Perez, that journey started with family. Johnny’s grandfather proudly served in the United States Army during World War II. Growing up, Johnny was inspired by his grandfather’s commitment to service, discipline, sacrifice, and dedication to others. Those values would later become the foundation upon which Heroes Star was built. More importantly, Johnny’s grandfather taught him the importance of homeownership and creating opportunities for future generations. At a young age, Johnny became determined to purchase his first home and build a career helping others achieve the same dream. That decision ultimately led him into real estate more than 24 years ago. Over the course of his career, Johnny helped countless families buy and sell homes, but one group consistently stood out: military members and veterans.
Time after time, Johnny encountered active duty service members and veterans who had been given incorrect information about their VA loan benefits. Many believed they needed a large down payment. Others were told they could only use their VA loan once. Some were incorrectly advised that they could not qualify because of credit score requirements or other misconceptions. The more Johnny listened, the more he realized there was a serious education gap. The issue wasn’t a lack of benefits. The issue was a lack of understanding.
